What are the top trends in the Australian healthcare sector? Executives of Australia’s leading Health Insurance provider weighed in. Medibank Group Executive of Technology John Goodall said “COVID accelerated the many aspects of healthcare service delivery”.

“Video and Telephony consultations, with digital prescriptions, are now firmly part of the system. Remote and in-home care and monitoring is now a real option outside of hospital care. I expect these to grow through 2021”.

Kylie Bishop, Group Executive of People and Culture said “Employees would want more choice in where and how they work.

Corporate Australia has, for the most part, developed an understanding of the benefits of allowing greater flexibility in where their employees want to work.

The office will become a place of purpose. To collaborate, connect, and if needed concentrate. No longer will they be places you must go to because it’s Monday.”

Technology will become even more important for the effective governance of companies

It is not just the customer service and employee collaboration benefiting from technology initiatives.

Group Executive of Medibank for Legal and Regulatory Affairs Mei Ramsay said: “In the legal and governance area, technology combined with legislative reform has allowed us to do things we never previously imagined – from electronic signatures and remote witnessing of deeds.”

In a recent blog post, Adhik Bramhachari of Medibank digital said Technology has enabled its transition to becoming a Health care company.

“Three years ago, our website lacked functionality and we had numerous outages a day across our systems. Our customers weren’t happy.

Shifting the focus to preventive health care meant providing customers with a more personalised approach to their health and wellbeing requirements”.
