Senior executives reported concerns around renewed COVID outbreak as their top risk, according to the latest Gartner report on Emerging Risks. The report reveals additional concerns about strategic missteps while adjusting to the new working models.

Top Five Risks

  • The Second Wave
  • New Working Model
  • Strategic Corrections
  • 2020 US Presidential Election
  • US/China trade talks

While “second wave” of COVID-19 topped the concerns of over 130 senior executives Gartner interviewed, the other two risks are internal: Aligning with the new working model and the need to do strategic corrections.

Transforming workplaces, managing staggered employee schedules and taking all precautions to ensure better work experience are priorities for executives.

Enterprises will move from pure survival mode to attempt to seek a more effective position in the new operating climate.

Leading technology players are allowing employees to work from home for the foreseeable future.

Salesforce announced employees will have the work from home option until the end of the year while Twitter said employees could “work from home and if they want to continue to do so forever, we will make that happen”.

Gartner’s survey in April said the majority of HR leaders are making Employee Experience a higher priority when planning the return to work with about 64% prioritizing employee experience more highly now than before the COVID-19 outbreak.
